We invite high school students in grades 9–12 to experience a day as a CMB member when the UVA football team takes on the University of Pittsburgh. 
 
Together, you and the Cavalier Marching Band will perform at our Veteran’s Appreciation halftime show in UVA’s Scott Stadium. During game play, Band Day members will also perform our stand tunes with the CMB between plays!

How do I register & pay?

  1. REGISTRATION is currently closed.  We have reached our capacity for the Band Day honor band.
  2. PAYMENT:  If you have a registration payement outstanding, please bring a $40 check on Nov. 12 (payable to "Cavalier Marching Band" and write the participant's name on the memo line)

What is included as part of UVA Band Day?

Entry to the game, a UVA Band Day T-shirt, rehearse and perform with the CMB on Scott Stadium field at halftime and in the stands throughout the game, bus transportation to and from the stadium, a pre-game meal with the CMB, and food in the stands during the game.

What is the schedule?

Division I football schedules are largely dictated by network television.  The exact kick off time may not be known until 7 days prior to kick off.  A schedule will be released to all participants at that time.  Here is a general overview of the day:

  1. Morning registration
  2. 2-hour Game Day Rehearsal with the Cavalier Marching Band
  3. Pre-game meal & social time with your CMB section provided by the CMB
  4. Change into uniform
  5. Bus to Scott Stadium (transportation provided by the CMB)
  6. Watch the CMB’s Pregame Show from Section 104––the CMB’s section
  7. Perform in Section 104 with the CMB during the game
  8. Perform a halftime show with the CMB on Scott Stadium field!
  9. Post-game bus transportation back to the Hunter Smith Band Building

What do I need to be prepared for on Game Day?

Music, drill, and scheduleing information will be released to the Band Day members well in advance of November 12.  You can expect the music first (sometime in early-October).  Plan to wear weather appropriate clothing for rehearsal on November 12.  You will need your own band instrument.  Performance dress is your high school band uniform.

Will I need to memorize my music?

Music memorization is optional.

How do I purchase tickets to the game for my family & friends?

Note: All parents/guardians/family/friends wanting to attend the game as a spectator must purchase a ticket through the UVA ticket office.  Band Day participants DO NOT need to purchased a ticket, that is included in the registration fee.

There are two options to purchase tickets as a spectator. 

TICKET OPTION #1 (full flexibility/full price): Visit the November 12, single game ticket website (linked at www.virginiasports.com).  Through this site, you have the flexibility to choose any available seat in the stadium.  The students will perform in the stands with the Cavalier Marching Band in Section 104 throughout the game, but the halftime show will be presented toward the WEST SIDE of the stadium.  Optimal Viewing of the halftime presentation will be in sections 121-129 (lower deck) or 529-537 (upper deck).

TICKET OPTION #2 (less flexibility in seat selection/20% discount): Visit https://fevo.me/uvabandday.  This is a custom site with a built-in, 20% Band Day Parent discount.  You can purchase any available tickets and the costs range from $18-50.  The students will perform in the stands with the Cavalier Marching Band in Section 104 throughout the game, but the halftime show will be presented toward the WEST SIDE of the stadium.  Optimal Viewing of the halftime presentation will be in sections 121-129 (lower deck) or 529-537 (upper deck).  When you choose your level, your seats are chosen for you.  Check THIS MAP of Scott Stadium to see if with the suggested seats.
