CMB Leadership Application Handbook
The CMB's robust team of student leaders serve in on-field and off-field leadership positions. During the spring semester, band members interested in serving in a leadership role go through an application process that is outlined in the CMB Leadership Application Handbook. The full leadership team is announced at the beginning of May each year.
Returning band members are eligible to apply for on-field leadership positions such as Drum Major, Drumline Captain, Colorguard Captain, Drill Leader (DL), or Music Leader (ML). Once selected, each woodwind and brass section's DLs and MLs leadership team select 1–2 Section Leaders (SL) who hold the highest position of leadership––and service––in their section. More information about each role is available in the Leadership Application Handbook.
Return band members are also eligible to apply for off-field leadership positions, which we refer to as Crews. New members may speak with the directors about joining a crew after band camp if they are interested in taking on a service position in their first year. These off-field leadership positions include focus on visual media, post-game, Music Librarian, Uniforms, Band Banquet, and various Equipment Crews, as well as Committee Chair positions with the Social Media and Communications committee, the Systems and Operations committee, and the Recruitment committee. More information about each role is available in the Leadership Application Handbook.
